Multiple sources told MMAWeekly.com that Carano’s new deal with Strikeforce nets her six-figures per fight.She said her decision not to go with Zuffa stemmed from the long-term viability, or lack thereof, of a women’s division built solely on her. Strikeforce’s commitment to women’s MMA gives her more opponents to look forward to.“I’m really backing them 100 percent,” said Carano. “The last two cards that they put on were incredible and I’m just really happy to be part of a promotion that’s got their stuff together and are organized and is willing to put good matches on, and not just have freak shows on their cards.”On Aug. 15, she and Cyborg will become the first women to headline a major mixed martial arts card in the U.S. Future opponents like Marloes Coenen, Erin Toughill, and Tara LaRosa wait in the wings.

Gina has been referred to as the "face of women's MMA". A title which she may or may not agree with but one thing is for sure this female fighter or fight girl, powerpuff or whatever you want to call her has proven the demand for female fights in mainstream media is growing.

Gina Joy Carano (born April 16, 1982) is an American mixed martial arts fighter. Carano appeared as the Gladiator "Crush" on American Gladiators. She has been referred to as the "face of women's MMA".[1] Carano starred in the cult film Ring Girls.[21] Based on true events, Ring Girls is a fast-paced story about five American women from Las Vegas who take on the ultimate challenge of fighting the best female Muay Thai fighters in the world.[22]
Along with Lisa King, Carano served as a mentor to aspiring female fighters in the Oxygen reality series Fight Girls. She appeared as "Crush" on the NBC show American Gladiators. She is also featured in the new Michael Jai White film Blood and Bone.[23]
She was profiled in a feature story for the ESPN series E:60, and was voted "Hottest Woman In America" by Big Biz Magazine in the Spring 2008 issue.[24] On May 13, 2008, "Gina Carano" was the fastest-rising search on Google and third most searched person on Yahoo!.[25]HYPERLINK \l "cite_note-FighterFirst-1"[2] She has also appeared in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 as Natasha.[26] a purchaseable hero unit, portraying the Soviet sniper/commando in various cutscenes.

In May 2009 it was announced that Carano was ranked #16 in Maxim's Hot 100 list.
