Mixed martial artists and fans of the sport worldwide have long respected the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which eventually came to be its own art through the experimentations, practices, and adaptation from the Judo knowledge of Carlos and Helio Gracie. The brothers then passed their knowledge of what is now called Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (aka Gracie Jiu-Jitsu) onto their family. As the art continues to grow in popularity more and more individuals realize the impact of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the contributions of guru Eddie Bravo whom under the tutelage of Jean Jacques Machado created the 10 Planet Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu system a unique style of no gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which was made to work both inside the cage and on the sporting mats.
The intentionality behind the creation was to have an unorthodox style which could keep an opponent under constant control and in the threat of danger. The main thing that separates 10th Planet Brazilian Jiu-jitsu from other styles is its innovation and constant evolution, with invented moves like the rubber guard, twister, and lock down.
I had a chance to sit down and meet with this innovator of this unorthodox style earlier this month outside of St Louis, MO.
